Experience:

I have experience working with a wide range of presenting problems, with a specialization in PTSD and acquired brain injury. Most recently, I completed a two-year fellowship in neuropsychology at the Palo Alto VA in California, where I specialized in working with veterans and active duty service members with traumatic brain injury, stroke, dementia, PTSD and other mental health and medical conditions. I have formal training in empirically supported individual and group treatments for insomnia, chronic pain, anxiety, OCD, depression, PTSD, and cognitive changes. In addition to working directly with patients to assess cognitive changes, manage difficult behaviors, utilize compensatory strategies, and support adjustment to injury or illness, I have also worked extensively in providing education and support to family members and caretakers. Prior to working at the VA, I received training in assessment and therapy in a variety of settings including the New York State Psychiatric Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York University Langone Medical Center, and Hunter College Counseling Services. I am fluent in Spanish, and my research on culturally competent neuropsychological assessment has been published in peer-reviewed journals and I have presented my work at conferences nationwide. I am also an active member of the American Psychological Association and the International Neuropsychological Society.
